Conservationist | Science Writer | Photographer

About
I got my PhD degree in conservation biology at Massey University in Auckland New Zealand, under the supervision of Dr Luis Ortiz Catedral, Prof Dianne Brunton and Dr Adam N. H. Smith. I'm originally from Ecuador, one of the most megadiverse countries with more than 2000 bird species. In my free time, I like to write notes for science communication magazines and photograph birds.

I have experience participating in different ornithological research projects and expeditions with different universities and museums around the world, with a focus on endangered bird species, especially on islands. I'm also an experienced bird bander and have banded birds in mainland Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, New Zealand and the Chatham Islands. In my last position working for the New Zealand Department of Conservation, I engage in negotiations with the Ecuadorian government to sign an agreement between Ecuador an New Zealand to improve the conservation status of New Zealand migratory seabirds that spent time in Ecuadorian waters.
